Important FAQs
-
What should I bring with me to the program?
We will be providing handouts, pens, and everything you need for your classes. If you have a notebook to take notes, you may want to bring that, but it is not required. You can bring a laptop or charger - wifi will be provided - but there will not be plugs near the area you are sitting.
Hotel conference rooms are often cold, so we recommend bringing a sweater if you get cold easily.
-
How does my hotel reservation work?
TJCTC will make your hotel reservations with the hotel if you selected lodging when registering. If you have any room changes to make, call or email Francisco at fjp12@txstate.edu.
When you arrive to check-in, the hotel will require you to put a credit card down for incidentals. Incidentals are things like room service and other fees you may charge to your hotel room This will place a hold on your credit card that will be reimbursed if you do not use any incidentals. We recommend using a credit card, instead of a debit card. If you use a debit card, the hotel will encumber funds for a certain number of days.
-
Where do I park?
TJCTC will pay for parking. The parking garage is located below the hotel.
If you opt to valet park, you will need to pay that yourself.
-
What meals are provided?
TJCTC will provide breakfast and lunch each day, except Thursday which is only breakfast. You are own your own for meals at night.
-
Where can I eat dinner?
The hotel is located in the Hill Country Galleria, an upscale outdoor mall. There are many restaurants in walking distance or a short drive. There is also a Whole Foods very near the hotel if you would prefer to pick up food to eat in your room.
The hotel also has a restaurant on the top floor with a great view.
Jessica, TJCTC's Education Manager, has a few recommendations in the area:
- County Line on the Hill - BBQ restaurant with a great view. 10 minute drive from the hotel.
- Maudie's Hill Country - Casual Tex-Mex restaurant with a good happy hour.
- Tony C's Coal Fired Pizza - Fun pizza chain at the galleria
- Simply Pho House - Vietnamese cuisine.
- Jack Allen's Kitchen - Southwestern cuisine. 10 minute drive.
- There are also a TON of great restaurants for all cuisines a bit closer to Austin. Ask us for recs!
-
What is the dress code?
There is not a required dress code but most attendees wear business casual. Keep in mind the meeting rooms are often chilly, so dress accordingly.
