General Information

We look forward to seeing you in Bee Cave for New Judge Stage I on December 8th - 12th. Read below for important details.

The conference will take place at the Sonesta Bee Cave Austin Hill Country in Bee Cave, TX. The town of Bee Cave is a suburb of Austin.

New Judge Toolkit

Before arriving at New Judge Stage I, please complete the New Judge Toolkit module. This will provide you your first 2 required education hours and get you ready for Stage I! If you have already completed it, no need to do it again.

  • Important FAQs

    • We will be providing handouts, pens, and everything you need for your classes. If you have a notebook to take notes, you may want to bring that, but it is not required. You can bring a laptop or charger - wifi will be provided - but there will not be plugs near the area you are sitting.

Hotel conference rooms are often cold, so we recommend bringing a sweater if you get cold easily.

    • TJCTC will make your hotel reservations with the hotel if you selected lodging when registering. If you have any room changes to make, call or email Francisco at fjp12@txstate.edu.

When you arrive to check-in, the hotel will require you to put a credit card down for incidentals. Incidentals are things like room service and other fees you may charge to your hotel room This will place a hold on your credit card that will be reimbursed if you do not use any incidentals. We recommend using a credit card, instead of a debit card. If you use a debit card, the hotel will encumber funds for a certain number of days.

    • TJCTC will pay for parking. The parking garage is located below the hotel.

If you opt to valet park, you will need to pay that yourself.

    • TJCTC will provide breakfast and lunch each day. You are own your own for meals at night.

    • The hotel is located in the Hill Country Galleria, an upscale outdoor mall. There are many restaurants in walking distance or a short drive. There is also a Whole Foods very near the hotel if you would prefer to pick up food to eat in your room.

The hotel also has a restaurant on the top floor with a great view.

Jessica, TJCTC's Education Manager, has a few recommendations in the area:

    • There is not a required dress code but most attendees wear business casual. Keep in mind the meeting rooms are often chilly, so dress accordingly.

    • JPs in counties without a medical examiner conduct inquests. For all JPs who do conduct inquests, you will have 4 hours of training on that topic.

For JPs from larger counties with medical examiners, you will have an urban roundtable class with Travis County Justice of the Peace Sylvia Holmes at her courtroom, near the hotel. We will provide you with driving directions at the program.
